My Story

Hi, I'm Bill Donahou, and fishing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. There’s no place I'd rather be than out on the water, just me, my boat, and the tackle. After years of fishing in the Texas heat, I faced a common problem that many anglers can relate to—my tackle was constantly exposed to the sun, making it too hot to handle and warping my tackle boxes. On top of that, I had to keep stepping away from my trolling motor just to tie on new bait, which was both inconvenient and unsafe with gusty winds and wakes threatening my boat near rocks and stumps.

About five years ago, after a particularly tough day on the lake, I came home and decided to solve the problem myself. Using materials I had in my garage, I designed the very first Cool-It Tackle System—an insulated cover for tackle boxes that protects them from UV rays and lowers internal temperatures by 60 to 80 degrees compared to traditional tackle boxes in direct sunlight.

The Cool-It Tackle System allows me to keep my tackle cool and ready to use right next to my trolling motor, so I never have to step away from the action. I’ve also added a built-in button light for night fishing, making it even more convenient. And the best part? These tackle boxes don’t warp or degrade—they stay strong and reliable, just like the day I made them.

After countless requests from fellow fishermen who saw the benefits firsthand, I realized I wasn’t the only one in need of a solution. That’s why I decided to bring the Cool-It Tackle System to the market.

If you're an active angler who spends long days on the water, I highly recommend giving the Cool-It Tackle System a try. It’s made by a fisherman, for fishermen, and designed to make your time on the lake safer and more enjoyable.

Tight lines,

Bill Donahou
